2010 Awards

While 2011 has already started, I recently noticed two projects I worked on received Pasadena Heritage awards in 2010.

The Mission Revival Foursquare at 896 N. Raymond Avenue was a well-deserved Restoration Honoree. Here, a new owner wanted to cosmetically restore the home while rehabilitating the home’s systems without losing the great surviving details, including multi-lite casement windows and original Eastlake window hardware. Locks, lifts and pulleys were stripped of paint and lubricated for another century of operation. For the attic, I supplied new casement windows which replicated other originals in the home. And, for likely the first time in decades, the double hung windows were reroped, repaired and tuned.

Haskett Court, a National Register listed bungalow court, was recognized by Pasadena Heritage as a Rehabilitation Honoree for its extensive restoration and ultimate conversion to for-sale workforce housing.

I’m proud to say that I restored every window on both projects.

While it was the owners who were officially recognized by Pasadena Heritage, I’m proud to have been a part of such noteworthy projects.

Hi. Bragi Schut here. You may not remember me, but you came out to take a look at our house — an old spanish fixer in west LA — and took some measurements for our windows. The renovation process is progressing MUCH slower than we anticipated, and we are still waiting for our permits to clear. Assuming that happens in the next few weeks, we will begin meeting with contractors — and will be in touch with you shortly thereafter about our windows.

In the meantime, I am reaching out to some people in the hopes of getting good contractor referrals — particularly of contractors who have done authentic looking spanish restorations. If you have anyone in mind, whom you feel comfortable recommending, please let me know. It would be a help.

    Thanks, hope you are well,
